What a great bOO this year!
Our fourth year serving coffee to the Scheckite masses was as much fun, if not more, than the other three. We got off to a slow start setting up the Cafe... stomach virus, bad back, uncooperative wind and rain...but we did it. And I think we had a mighty fine Boo Cafe this year when all was said and done. We got lots of compliments on the black light backlit tapestry (our trademark cafe decor) and if anyone managed to snap a good nighttime photo of it, please post it.
I developed a new proprietary "Boo Blend" this year, and your feedback would be appreciated for next year's blend. If you enjoyed it, let me know If you didn't, well let me know that too (coffeeculturegvl@yahoo.com).
And for the Boo Cafe record: we still didn't match the first year's consumption of coffee....but we came close! First year was 40 lbs. of coffee, 80 gallons of water, and 36 quarts of half & half.
This year was about 30 lbs. of coffee, 60 gallons of water, and (surprisingly) only 24 quarts of half & half. What WAS surprising was the demand for non-dairy creamer. We ran out...and I brought a full gallon sized container. Who wouldathunk?
We managed to keep the air-pots full of hot, steamy java 24 hours a day and considering we had 32 degree nights, that was a good thing.
My thanks to Steven and Richard for being my personal pack horses and cafe slaves this year. Boo Cafe wouldn't have happened if it hadn't been for you! Hopefully my back will be fixed by next year.
And thanks to Laser Greg for the double filter on the water....it was a Cafe saver come Saturday night! And to Greg and Scooby for making sure our power issues were fixed in time for the rush.
Thanks to everyone, in fact, for coming together and creating a BOO to remember.
As always, we got hundreds of thank yous from everyone for providing coffee, and it always makes us feel good....but we enjoy doing it almost as much, if not more!
